FotoNOW Collaboration

This summer, we took Colossal — my mobile print studio — out and about in Royal William Yard for a day of exploration and documentation. Working with photographer Matt Pontin from Fotonow, we captured the studio in all its glory against the backdrop of this historic waterfront site.

Colossal has always been about movement, visibility, and taking printmaking beyond the studio walls. Photographing it in the open spaces of Royal William Yard felt like the perfect way to show its scale, adaptability, and presence. From cobbled courtyards to the waterfront, each location offered a new perspective on how the press sits within public space.

It was a joy to collaborate with Matt Pontin and the Fotonow team, who specialise in creative documentary photography and community engagement. Their lens brought a fresh way of seeing Colossal — not just as a piece of equipment, but as a character in its own right, ready to roll into unexpected places and spark curiosity.

Why It Matters

Documenting Colossal in this way is part of my ongoing exploration of how printmaking can be mobile, visible, and performative. These images will help me share the story of Colossal with wider audiences, from community projects to exhibitions and future performances.
