Positive Social Change: Making A Statement

Reclaim the Night with Trevi  in Partnership with Arts University Plymouth.

As a lecturer at Arts University Plymouth, I had the privilege of leading BA (Hons) Graphic Design students – Emily, Hannah, Cynthia, Jessika, and Liam – to take on a unique opportunity to contribute to this important cause for positive social change.

Showcasing their typographic skills, the student crafted placard designs, both portrait and landscape, suitable for screen printing. Through their innovative placard designs, they not only developed new skills but also contributed to a powerful visual narrative, igniting conversations and marching forward for change.

About Reclaim The Night

Embracing freedom in support of ending violence against women and girls! For nearly five decades, Reclaim the Night has served as a beacon of resistance in cities across the UK, channelling the deep-seated anger and frustration of women against societal injustices. Its inception in the 1970s was fuelled by the palpable anger over the imposition of a curfew on women in response to rampant violence, notably the heinous acts perpetrated by Peter Sutcliffe. This curfew starkly contrasted with the freedom men enjoyed, highlighting systemic gender inequalities.
